Earthaven's Remes

Mr. Remes was my very first ABI Service Dog.  (Read More under "Our Story")

Both of Mr. Remes' parents were imported from France by Canine Protection International.  His is a very distinguished pedigree!  (See below).  

Mr. Remes was, to my mind, the epitome of what a Belgian Malinois is supposed to be about:   Phenomenal Intelligence and Versatility combined with a Tireless Work Ethic!   A dog who knew how to "run" a farm and a home--keeping track of everyone's day.   A loyal, alert, observant, protective Mali always eager to learn and to perform new tasks--from bringing in the firewood, to finding my missing keys.  Knew by name, and on sight, an astounding number of tools and other household objects--and remembered where they were to be found.   Favourite chore:  bringing in the mail.  

Trained by me as an ABI Service Dog, Mr. Remes was also professionally trained in Personal Protection.   He (successfully) came between me and physical danger on more than one occasion.  Mr. Remes "socialized" and played with all of his many offspring--many of whom went on to distinguish themselves in many spheres of Work.  

We spent almost every day together for nearly 14 years.  I still imagine him standing over me in the morning, willing me to open my eyes--to begin another new day together.  Well known in our neighborhood and around town, Mr. Remes was feared by some, admired by many, and is greatly missed by me! 

Mr. Remes has gone on ahead of me.  I count myself Dearly Blessed to have had him in my life, and if the Universe continues to be kind, he will be waiting for me on the Other Side.  .  .
